To make the process easier, the steps involved are explained below
1. Report the death
Present the death certificate at a CaixaBank branch to inform us of the death.
2. Provide proof that you are the heir
Give us certificate from the Registry of Last Wills and Testaments and, if available, an authorised copy of the will.
3. Receive the balance certificates
Sign the testamentary service application so that we can give you the balance certificates and continue the process.
4. Accept the inheritance and pay the taxes
Accept the inheritance by means of a public deed in the notary's office and pay the Inheritance and Gift Tax (ISD).
5. Settlement of the case
A legal report will be issued specifying how the balances are to be distributed amongst the heirs.
6. Distribution of balances
We will contact you to distribute the balances of the deceased person.
