ATM scams

Find out how criminals operate and protect yourself.

Not every scam requires advanced technology

Criminals take advantage of any distraction to intercept your card, watch your PIN, or steal the cash you’ve just withdrawn from the ATM.

In this video, we explain how to avoid this type of fraud.

Key tips for safe ATM use

Be wary of strangers

Don’t accept help from unknown people while using the ATM. If you need assistance, only approach authorised staff from your bank.

Protect your PIN

Cover the keypad with your hand when entering your code. It’s a simple and effective way to prevent others from seeing it.

Avoid distractions

Keep your full attention on the transaction. Don’t let anyone interrupt you or make you look away from the screen.

Use the mirror camera

If the ATM has a mirror camera, use it to check if someone is watching your movements from behind.

Do you think you may have been a victim of a scam?

Scams are often disguised as emergencies or threats. Be especially wary of any urgent requests for details or payments.

Keep calm, use your common sense, and if you think you might be a victim of fraud, get in touch with CaixaBank immediately through the official channels: Wall or by calling 938 87 25 25.
